IMD, anyone?

I considered IMD as an alternative if I was dinged at LBS/INSEAD. Part of it was the rankings (IMO INSEAD/LBS/IMD are the H/S/W of Europe), but I have heard good things about the program itself, likely due to the smaller class size.

Being that my post-MBA goal is consulting and I'm on the younger side for IMD, the school probably wasn't the greatest match. Still, I think if one is considering INSEAD at least, IMD should be on the list for similar reasons as well.

Thanks iamcste! Indeed, many of IMD's students are quite accomplished, and I agree with Nerdboy that with the current economic climate and the state of banking, IMD may even be better positioned due to its strong recruiting networks in industry.

I was looking at their brochure a couple of days before.
The class of 2007 consisted of very well accomplished people with lots of years of WE.
The vast majority of the class had a solid 8+ years WE in very responsible positions in terms of responsibilities and salary (GMs etc).
Maybe there is something that I do not understand overall, but why should a GM with 12 years of WE pursue a MBA degree?Anyway, since the majority of the class is so accomplished (at least this is the case of the class of 2007!), I really do not feel that I fit in this place by any means.
Last but not least, since the people there have so solid WE, it makes perfect sense that the salaries after graduation will be very high, regardless of the MBA.
What do you think?

I was considering IMD but couldn't meet their language criteria. I believe candidates need to be able to converse to a decent level in 3 languages.

For IMD you need to have international exposure and they "look at how many languages you speak". But the school with the formal 3 languages requirement is INSEAD.

I guess it's 3 languages including the native one.
Am I right?

Yes, they count the native language - thank God. On the plus side, this requirement will finally give me the incentive to brush up my German, something I have been meaning to do since I finished school

INSEAD-For entry, you need to be "fluent" in English and have "Practical" knowledge of any other language.

you must atleast have "basic" knowledge of a commerically useful language before graduation. so third language requirement is not obligatory while entering


IMD-Only English is suff. although know how of more languages can help a lot.

Nothing yet. And because very few forum people are applying, I have no idea if the interview invites have been sent out already. Judging from past years though, they should have started calling by now.

I'm in the same situation: dinged. But if they dinged you with your score, I'm really confused about their selection modality.
