IMMEDIATE Profile Evaluation and Guidance Needed!! [#permalink] New post 19 Oct 2010, 21:32
Finally mustering up the courage to post my very unimpressive profile here because as of now,im totally clueless as to where to head from here.So here goes:

Age: 23

Undergrad: Bachelor of Arts B.A. (60% marks) (2 years)

Work Experience: Almost nill

GMAT: 660

Location : Pakistan

There it is guys. Yes, its very unimpressive, but i have had horrible last 10 years which have resulted in horrible academic results for various reasons (mostly medical). But i have finally stood up and my first and only achievement is my GMAT score which though looks dull infront of all of yours but its nothing short of a miracle for me.

My aim is to get into a good/decent Canadian mba program (would not mind in Europe as well, but first preference is Canada because going to settle down and get married there eventually). Yes, I also understand I might be having lots of shortcomings in my application and nothing to boast off. Hence im here asking for some "immediate" guidance and help!!

Please also let me know what specific things will i need to work on to get into a good business school especially in Canada!

Any help will be highly appreciated because my 10 year hibernation has got me worried sick about my future!!

Hello,

Sorry to hear about your tough medical issues that have hurt your GPA. That said, you can still do a number of things to get into a decent MBA program (not the top programs with your profile, but you know that already)

What are you doing for work, or have you not worked before? Have you started thinking about your personal stories, essay topics, what your application strategy will be? With your profile, it is very important to have the right messaging come across in your application to offset the grades and the GPA. Given your reaction to your GMAT, I take it you cannot improve that at all, correct?

Contact me separately for additional guidance or if you seek some in depth professional coaching. My guidance that I can provide here is to think about how you will address your young age and lack of work experience, and have your GPA story concise and consistent, since you should mention it in the optional essays. That said, you can still have a good shot if you put together a solid application. Good luck and I look forward to hearing from you once you browse my site if you are interested in talking in more detail.
