Impact Investing with no previous PE work: Realistic? [#permalink] New post 10 Jan 2014, 08:14
Hi all,

Just submitted R2 apps but going through the post submission critiques... Post MBA I would like to do impact investing especially at a firm like Acumen Fund. My only reservation/ critique for myself is if this goal is realistic with no previous PE work... My back up is social enterprise consulting and I shed some light on this in my essays but mostly focused on impact investing.

Can anyone shed some light on the feasibility of this short-term goal?

Thanks in advance.

Not realistic. Do you have work experience in investment banking or management consulting? Even if you're an ibanker it'd be very difficult (but still feasible). Without previous finance experience it'd be incredibly difficult, if not impossible.

My friend was looking to do the same and did the 2+2 @ HBS. A couple of banking years at Morgan Stanley. Ended up not being able to get any jobs in impact investing but luckily found a P/E role (even P/E roles are almost impossible now Post-MBA, esp without prior P/E)
