I have a question regarding the importance of campus visits. I live in the Middle East, and I'm applying to schools in the US and the UK (top 10). I understand that visiting the school's campus shows my interest in the school and so on, but honestly, living in the Middle East, with all the travel time and visa issues involved, makes it very difficult. Besides, I'm sure that if I leave the office for more than a week, I'd come back to find it in shambles. Would adcoms be willing to forgive my lack of visits because I'm basically halfway across the world? I know that some schools go to Dubai to meet applicants, so I could go to those, but do they count as the same thing? Will the adcom even know I've been there?
