I wrote the GMAT 3 weeks ago and scored 700 (Q 49, V 37). I intend to wrote it again in Oct and want to improve my SC and CR. I have already practised with the OG, 800score practise tests. Can someone suggest the best resources for SC and CR?

700 is a good score. May be you have your reasons to write the test again, if not, you could glance at the below - if it helps.

agreed.. consider instead taking the time now to work on your application. if you are really intent on re-taking it though, you should pick up the manhattan gmat sentence correction guide - it's really good and easy to read in the time period you are allotting.

for CR, the best book in my opinion is the powerscore logical reasoning book. however, since you only have a month, you will really have to read through it quickly. i don't know if this would be the best strategy or not.

Welcome to GMAT Club Blitz85!

I would join in the shadowsjc and pm - you may be better off not working on the app instead of GMAT.
Take a look at the thread PM posted with a link to Tarmac's post (770 and 8 dings) or Pathfinder who studied for a long time to re-take his 720 only to score 690. Retaking success is never guaranteed. GMAT has a standard error of about 40 points, so even if you improve 40 points but don't have as good of a day, you maybe at the same score.

Now that I have scared you :) On the other hand, what were your practice scores? If your real GMAT score is out of pattern, meaning you got 760, 770, 780 on your GMAT Preps, then it may make sense or if you used sub-standard materials and now going through Powerscore SC or MGMAT CR, then maybe... in other words - need a reason why you think you will do better next time. You have one?

Thanks Everyone for their feedback. My last 4 practice scores were 770, 750, 750 & 740.

I guess end of the day it comes down to applying in round 2 with a score of 720-750 versus applying in round 1 with 700-> Any thoughts on this?

It is a big speculation when it gets to R1 and R2. You never know really when your chances are better.
See this post for pro's and cons: any-difference-between-applying-in-r1-vs-r2-81651.html. There are some interesting ones - most of them are logistics related. Feel free to join in.
