Hi,
I bought the ManhattanGMAT SC and that has helped me answer almost all the
OG questions accurately. I attempted the Kaplan800 CR section, and my performance was quite average.
Do you suggest I simply solve all the
OG questions and understand them well? Or should I purchase the ManhattanGMAT for CR? Go through the Kaplan800 questions again and make sure I understand all of the mistakes?
Any advice for RC ?
Thanks!
If you did Kaplan 800 and only had an average hit rate, you probably need to go back to the basics and start from scratch. Depending on how familar you are with the question types, you can/should learn to recognize the question types quickly. In paritcular, you should be able to look at any given CR and answer the following questions within a few seconds:
1) What is the question type? Weaken? Strengthen? Assumption? etc etc
2) What is the main focus for that question type? Premise? Conclusion? Logic?
3) What is the stimulus talking about and how does the question type come into play for this stimulus? (e.g. the stimulus mentions an analogous situation and the question is a WEAKEN type - what possible ways are there to weaken this stimulus?)
If you are really struggling on the CR, don't bother answering the questions at first - go through several of the questions in
OG and ask yourself these questions. Take your time and really try to figure these out before you try to answer it.
That's a start - perhaps if you provided more specifics about where you are going wrong in CR, we could provide more strategies to overcome those weaknesses.
