In 1960, the average age at which a woman married was between 20 and 21 years old. Currently, the average age at which a woman gets married is approximately 25 years old. Therefore, most new brides in 1960 were considerably younger than most new brides today.

In 1960, the average age at which a woman married was between 20 and 21 years old. Currently, the average age at which a woman gets married is approximately 25 years old. Therefore, most new brides in 1960 were considerably younger than most new brides today.
Which of the following, if true, most weakens the argument to the left?
A In the 1960’s, a higher percentage of the population was married than is married today. -This cannot be correct as it strengthens the argument
B Because of the increased prevalence of divorce, more women are entering into second marriages in their 30s and 40s. - The key word in the sentence is that it asks if new brides in the 60s are younger than new brides today. The question talks about the average age of brides then and now, this undoubtedly includes second, third, and nth marriages. Therefore Statement B, says because of more divorce today the average age is being pushed up - this throws into question the conclusion therefore weakening the argument. So B is correct.
C Women today often choose to delay marriage as they spend their early 20s focusing on their careers. - This cannot be correct as also strengthens the conclusion.
D The majority of women who choose to get married today have college degrees, as opposed to the majority of women in the 1960s who chose to get married, who had only high school diplomas. - Educational status does not directly address age, therefore this is not correct.
E Engagements were commonly shorter in the 1960s than they are today.
-Length of engagements does not mention age and therefore has nothing to do with the conclusion, therefore its not correct.

OA will follow It is only between A and B. In A it just tels abt a higher portion got married, but does not say any age ranege. B gives a reason as why the average is 25years. If there were no divorce then they would have also been nearby the range of 21 or so.. hence B.

has to be B
due to the second marriage at the age of 30-40, the average age is on the higher side (which is 25). although nowadays women are getting married at the age 21, because of the divorcees getting married for the second time at age 30-40, the average age is 25.
this weakens the argument that most new brides in 1960 were considerably younger than most new brides today.
