I have given my GMAT and scored 720. I am an Indian software engineer with a 2-year job ex in a leading IT firm. I plan to apply for an MBA in finance next year. Is it a good idea to quit my current job and join an NGO fulltime for one year? The NGO I am interested in teaches under privileged kids.

Not unless this NGO is related to what you want to do post-MBA. Don't do this just for your MBA application.
