In a study of the behavior of adolescents to parental pressures,it was found that the use of pressure by parents did not always elicit a negative behavior in the adolescents. While most of them reacted adversely, a few developed mature and independent thinking as a reaction to such pressure. It seems that use of pressure does produce good in some cases.

Which of the following if true most weakens the conclusion reached by the author?

A. The adolescents who reacted adversely do so even when there is no parental pressure on them.
B. All the adolescents who reacted favorably were highly intelligent
C. The adolescents in the study were selected randomly from a group of college students
D. Factors other than parental pressure may play a role in developing positive traits in adolescents
E. Some of the adolescents said that they do not like to be pampered by their parents.

Conclusion: It seems that use of pressure does produce good in some cases.
In order to weaken the conclusion, try to find an alternate cause or try to prove that under pressure, something worse happens.
D does exactly one of the above. It finds an alternate cause and proves that it was because of some other factors, that helped adolescents to develop positive traits and not because of parental pressure.
+1D
Hope this helps.
