confused between 'C' and 'D'.. D has 'prohibit from' and also the clause after 'that' makes it more clear.. although 'D' is more wordy and 'C' is precise... on the test day I will go with 'D'

I do agree with you completely. But THEM in D is redundant and moreover you will need a participle (disclosing) rathar than a noun (the disclosure).
The correct idiom should be
Prohibiting X from doing Z
or forbid x to do Z.
This sentence does not follow any rule.
C is ok. C indicates that prohibiting is done by agreement

it's (D) for me. The word 'other' is missing in B, C, and E. it should read '...any other company'.
meanwhile, which does ETS prefer?
probibit from or prohibit to?

i looked at the choices again. D seems to make more sense.
prohibit is a transitive verb.

What does THEM refer to in D..
I would take D if it were to say HIM OR HER instead of THEM

it should be C. D has a pronoun error it is quite unclear to what 'them' refers to the company or each employee.

A changes the meaning of the sentence. It seems to indicate that water purification methods be disclosed to companies using a tool called an analogous purification process.
There is no sense of ORDER, ADVISE in this sentence. Its an agreement that need to prohibit employee from disclosing the details...
So, can not use subjunctive under agreement..

I can't see C as being right.
Prohibit from sounds better, therefore, only B and D can be correct?
Them must also be used to identify "Who".
OA Please?

OA is C. My problem here is that I had always thought that prohibit from was the idiom. Could anybody clarify? Thanks.

agreed PROHIBIT FROM is a right Idiom, BUT B and D - that uses the mentioned idiom has an agreement problem, Each Employee is singular and cannot have a plural pronoun THEM

I would say D for the sole reason that it is the only correct looking sentence which refers to 'them' i.e. the employees....C doesn't refer to the employees at all

My take on the problem. Although I marked my answer as D, but later realised mistakes in it A. prohibiting that its water purification methods be disclosed to companies - That placement is wrong. prohibiting what is not clear from 'that'?B. prohibiting them from the disclosing of its water purification methods to any company. Subject after comma is company and 'them' pointer is not correctC. prohibiting disclosure of its water purification methods to any company - correct D. that would prohibit them from disclosure of its water purification methods to companies. 'them' problemE. that would prohibit its water purification methods to be disclosed to a company. "would...to be"

(A) "prohibiting that X be Y......" is unidiomatic (E) "prohibit X to be Y " is unidiomatic
prohibit X, where X is a noun (disclosure) is correct or prohibit person from.....doing something..
Hence C
