C for me.

LT is directing one of the several projects so a singular verb is to be used

not sure if we need "seek" to agree with research projects!

potential point of confusion for me

so it could be C, D or E

C is the best option.

B it is
one of several clinical research projects that seek
relative pronoun refers to immediately preceding word "research projects" hence "seek" has to be plural and C,D and E are all out. A is out because idiom is "how helpful X is in..." or "the extent that X helps in..."

A is ruled out because helps to is an unidiomatic expression.

one of the trails SEEKS as one of xyz is singular. any comment on this usage?

Is this sentence correct?

That's something new. I initially went for the singular 'seeks' because I thought 'one of several projects' should be singular.

I agree with ywilfried but I am not sure I am right about it :?
I say :

"one of the boys that was living near the river used to go to school with me"
AND NOT
"one of the boys that were living near the river used to go to school with me

Please correct it and let me know what is the rule in that case ? thanks.

I would say:

one of the boys that were living near the river used to go to school with me (Although I would have preferred "lived" as it is a completed action instead of a continuous one. However, just for the sake of presenting a point, "were living" should be right)

but

one of the boys lives near the river and goes to school with me

In the second sentence, since relative pronoun is not present, "lives" is singular because it is conjugated with "one". However, as soon as a relative pronoun is introduced, it refers to the immediately preceding plural noun "boys".

No. It has to be B. one of serveral projects that seek....(restrictive clause right there)

Agree with Paul definitely. CDE can be eliminated right away for the use of third person single verb "seeks".

I still remember Paul's excellent example to illustrate this point:

One of the books that are on the table is mine.

All the books are on the table. But one is mine.

Why wouldnt you get 700+ if you have the concepts so clear ;-)...

Yea it is C Subject is the one project she runs and the rest of the phrase is its descriptor.
also has to be ll with the voice of the statement, this is only met by C
