120. In Europe, schoolchildren devote time during each school day to calisthenics. North American schools rarely offer a daily calisthenics program. Tests prove that North America children are weaker, slower, and shorter-winded than European children. We must conclude that North American children can be made physically fit only if they participate in school calisthenics on a daily basis.

Which one of the following is assumed in the passage?
(A) All children can be made physically fit by daily calisthenics.
(B) All children can be made equally physically fit by daily calisthenics.
(C) Superior physical fitness produces superior health.
(D) School calisthenics are an in indispensable factor in European children’s
(E) North American children can learn to eat a more nutritious diet as well as to exercise daily

My FA without looking at the discussion is D. Agree with Boksana that this is not an easy question.

D is my FA. Europeans take the exercise seriously and so are better. hence...............

I didn't engage in the discussion for I was familiar with the answer. But I'll try to explain why it is D

(A) and (B) immediately rejected as extreme - no need for "all" there

(C) and (E) are out of scope

If (D) is not true then calisthenics IS NOT NECESSARY for European children's health. Now quote form the passage: "We must conclude that North American children can be made physically fit ONLY if they participate in school calisthenics on a daily basis". Thus, the author states that calisthenics is NECESSARY for American kids to be healthy

But if calisthenics IS NOT NECESSARY for children's health in Europe why should it be NECESSARY for children's health in the US? If (not D) then the parallel the author draws if the passage does not hold

P.S. Have just taken PowerPrep 1, found some CRs there much more difficult that those discussed here :(((

Yes, D indeed is the answer.

P.S. I didn't noticed very difficult CR in PP, btw when I did PP I made only one mistake in CR. What numbers of CR in OG are difficult in your view, tell plz? :)

In OG and ETS paper tests all CRs are OK. But in the PP I had one or two that bewildered me, unfortunately I couldn't cut and paste them

I haven't got to the end of the OG yet. The question in the PP1 I didn't like was about wasps and their larvae in the host insect's egg. Please post this question if you find it, I found the answer very far-fetched

I was misled by the language in D. If it is "....children's health", the ans will simply be D.
