the error of b and c is will
the error of a and e is (each one to the others)

the answer is E
(passed on to others) is the best exprission

I'll go for E too. In addition to passed on to others, imitation and practice is the correct usage instead of imitating and practicting.

B and C are clearly out for using "will"
E is out because curiosity is not a place (as required by where)

So what remains is A and D.

D sounds better to me because D makes it clear that it is curisoity of chimpanzees that passes patterns of behavior and expression.

I'll to go with D...
D is grammaticaly correct as compared to E...

in D we have "exhibit the kind of curiosity by which new patterns of behavior and expression "

i think by is the correct expression to be used in the sentence..

(A) exhibit the kind of curiosity so that new patterns of behavior and expression can be passed on from each one to others by imitating and practicing
-- “so that” is improperly used.

(B) will exhibit the kind of curiosity so that new patterns of behavior and expression can be passed on from one to another by imitating and practicing
-- "Will exhibit" is awkward

(C) will exhibit the kind of curiosity so that new patterns of behavior and expression can be passed on from each one to another by imitation and practice
-- "Will exhibit" is awkward

(D) exhibit the kind of curiosity by which new patterns of behavior and expression can be passed on from each one to others by imitating and practicing
-- sounds ok.

(E) exhibit the kind of curiosity where new patterns of behavior and expression are passed on to others by imitation and practice
-- “where” is improperly used.

I will go with D. What is the official answer?

I dont find any flaw in use of "so that", A is the best.

D means that "curiosity" passes on the new patterns of behavior and expression from each one to others! Awkard!

As already explained by others, "will" is incorrect as this is defined more like a universal truth. Hence, B and C are out.

E is out for the use of "where". It should refer to a place.

Now, between A and D, D distorts the meaning by using "by which". Hence, A seems the best choice.

OA is D.
Close race is betwee A "so that" and D "by by which".
A changes meaning.
