C. will exhibit the kind of curiosity so that new patterns of behavior and expression can be passed on from one to another by imitation and practicing
D. exhibit the kind of curiosity by which new patterns of behavior and expression can be passed on from one to another by imitation and practice
E. exhibit the kind of curiosity where new patterns of behavior and expression are passed on to others by imitation and practice
MANY things to learn from this problem
frist thing
if the main clause is in the past, the subordinate clause normally is in the past, but it may be in any tense depending on the logic. one case which happen most frequently is that the subordinate clause is in simple present. I do not know any different tense other than simple past in the subordinated clause which can go the main clause in the past.
that proved that chimpanzees exibits". PROVED and EXHIBIT are main verb and verb in the subordinate clause . simple present shows a timeless fact, which can go with simple past in the main clause in the past tense.
"will exhibit" in B and C is wrong. logic dose not permit this case. "would exhibit" can go with "proved".
second thing
the passive sentence "A is done by B " is popular and it is popular that " B is persons". but inhere, agent B is not person but an action noun. look at choice D
"by imitation and practice" means "imitation and practice " make "news patterns of behavior".
we should be ready for this case to accept the right choice quickly.
