May Earnings:
================
Lets say Mr. Lee's earnings= $60 Rest of the family earnings =$40

June Earnings:
==============
Lee earned 20% more = 60(1 + 0.2) = 72
Rest of the family earnings remained same = $40 that make Lee's earnings 64% of total thanks SM Intern Joined: 02 Oct 2008 Posts: 16 Followers: 0 Kudos [?]: 0 [0], given: 0 Re: PS : GMAT Prep Word Problem [#permalink] 08 Oct 2008, 12:02 The answer is C . 72%. Let Lee's earning be L and family's earning be L1. May's earnings : Lee's earnings : L = 6L1/10 Family's earnings : So L1 = 10L/6 June's Earning : Lee's earning : 6L/5. So 6L/5 is 72% of 6L/10. Smahamkl : If we assume family's earning as 40$ then shouldnt Lee's income for May be 24$instead of 60$ ?

lees family income may = 1000 , lee = 600, rest of the family = 400

june = 720

total family income = 400+720 = 1120

720/1120 = 72/112 = 36/56 = 18/28 = 9/14 *100 = approx 64%..........A
