In modifier's, We generally say that the phrase/clause modifies the word that immediately preceeds it... But for example

The economy has been on an upward growth trajectory for the last 10 years, making the life of the common man a lot easier.

Here ... making the life of the common man a lot easier is modifying the economy on an upward growth trajectory.....

So is it possible that sometimes the modifier is not placed just by the side...
