In order to cover less distance ,a boy rather than goin along the longer and shorter lengths of the rectagular path, he goes by diagnally. the boy finds that in this case the total distance cover by him is 1/2 of the longer lenght less. The ratio of breadth and length is?
d. 1/4 _________________
Lets assume Length = L and Breadth = B
As per the problem, digonal = (L/2)+B
Applying Pythagoras theorem....
L power 2 + B power 2 = ((L/2)+B) power 2
L power 2 + B power 2 = (L power 2)/4 + B power 2 + LB
4L power2 + 4B power 2 = L power 2 + 4B power 2 + 4LB
3L power2 = 4LB
B/L = 3/4

The language of the question is confusing. I had to read it couple of times before I could get what it meant. Seems the sentence correction is creaping in on me.
I found several modifier mistakes as well as run on sentence in the question stem
