In Patton City, days are categorized as having heavy rainfall (more than two inches), moderate rainfall (more than one inch, but no more than two inches), light rainfall (at least a trace, but no more than one inch), or no rainfall. In 1990, there were fewer days with light rainfall than in 1910 and fewer with moderate rainfall, yet total rainfall for the year was 20 percent higher in 1990 than in 1910.

If the statements above are true, then it is also possible that in Patton City

When the number of days in 1990 with light rain fall is small, moderate rain fall is small, and heavy rain fall is small... going by probability there will be less rain in 1990 than in 1910. But the total rainfall is higher in 1990 according to argument. A can be true if we assume that rain per day on rainy day in 1990 was high. But that way even D can be right. _________________

More days of heavy rainfall does not equate to overall inches being increased. You can have a 3 dyas of heavy rainfall in 1910 (5 inches a piece) and then one day of massive rainfall (say 50+inches) in 1990. _________________

- let's say moderate rainfall occurred on 361 days in 1910 (1.1 inches/day) and 360 days in 1990 (1.9 inches/day), then D is possible. It may seem absurd that it would rain an inch almost every day, but theoretically, D is the only possible option.
E. the average amount of rainfall per month was lower in 1990 than in 1910
-since total rainfall was higher in 1990, average rainfall per month should also be higher.

Your possibility can be wrong - In 1910:- Heavy 2 (total rainfal can be 6 or 12 or what ever number)
