E.
infinitive "to wear" in A/B is incorrect t begin clause.
E. is concise, to the point.

OK. I also go with E. B, the only choice in which parallelism is kept, can be left out because "to wear" preforms the role of subject worser than "wearing" does.

Well, I also vote for (E).

However, I don't think this question is about ||ism.

A) helped in the improvement = wrong
B) helped to improve = wrong
C) helped in the improving = wrong
D) helped in the improvement = wrong
E) helped improve = CORRECT

This question is not about parallelism, it is about expression. to wear is wrong.
