IMO D

1)o = 8+u also o+u = 12 so o=10;u=2

2) u = 1/5(O) ; so o=10;u=2

2. last year, the number of months in which natalie went below $60000 was 1/5 the number of months in which she did not.

The possibilities are:

Sales above (over) $60000 = a
Sales equal to $60000 = e
Sales below to $60000 = b

1: a - b -e = 8

if a = 9, b = 1 and e = 2
if a = 10, b = 2 and e = 0

so nsf..

2: b = 1/5 (a+e)
5b = (a+e)
so "b" has to be 2 and (a+e) = 10 but do not know what "a" and "e" are. nsf.

1&2: since "a" cannot be 9 cuz if so "e" has to be 2 and (a+e) becomes 11 which is wrong (from st... 2).
so a has to be 10 and e equal to 0 to have a+e = 10.

C: Really tricky. :-D

the bold part means <=$60000 (not <$60000). So, first statement is sufficient.

A.

(1) is suff since (>60) -8 = (<=60)
>60 + <=60 =12

(2) insuff <60 = 1/5 (>=60) but we need >60.

sorry for the messy symbols... :)

Agree walker. I also meant to say the same as you said but forgot to put -e, which I added.

But still I did not get "how A is suff"?

The equation for statement 1 is following:

x + (x-8)=12 ---> x=10 (10 and 2 months respectively)

Thanks walker.

Though the question was not very difficult, statement 1 skipped off from my head.
:oops:

no wonder I didn't do well on the GMAT Quant. I didn't know GMAT was this tricky. I didn't consider the equal to $60,000 part. A makes sense in that regards.
