Clear E. it is not the brain located behind the ear. E clarifies it.

If it is "the habit of smoking and not a smoking habit" then how can the OA be A.
Please confirm the OA.

I think its B as "located behind the ear" is an essential modifier so it cannot be surrounded by comma.

IMO you cannot break a smoking habit, while you can break a habit of smoking. That reduces the options to C and E. In addition, brain is not located behind the ear so C is not good.
IMO E should be the ans. Experts pls advice.

I am doomed

"a smoking habit" doesn't make sense.

First one refers to (in my opinion) different styles of smoking whereas the second one refers to just smoking. But FORGET this: if GMAT/OE says it is wordy, then IT IS WORDY. All you have to do is, remember that. Now come back to options. Comma (,) is usually used to express 'pause' and when we do that, the word that follows the comma immediately does not refer to the word that is just before the comma (to refer to that preceding word, we need to use 'which'). If we apply this, it makes sense: not the entire brain is behind the ear, just a part of it!
