In the diagram below, there is a circumference with center B; points A and C lie on the circumference. Arcs AB and BC are semicircles. Find the area of the shaded part if the radius of the initial circumference is 1.

The area of the two semicircles is the same .

so its just like asking whats the area of the HALF of the Circle.

so required area is PI * 1 / 2 = PI/2
