In the figure above, a square is inscribed in a circle. If the area of the square region is 16, what is the area of the circular region?

(A) 2π
(B) 4π
(C) 6π
(D) 12π
(E) 16π

My answer is 8π, which is not one of the options. What am I doing wrong here?

The square is inside the circle, and each of it's sides is 4 since the area is 16. If we create a 45 45 90 right triangle within the square to get the radius of the circle we get \sqrt{2} so just square that and multiply by π and you get 2π

I don't understand how the answer is 6 Pi Square inscribed in a circle...

S S S root 2 you get a 45 45 90 triangle so Side is 4 Diagonal is 4 root 2 take --- Half of that is 2 root 2

Area = 8 pi what am I doing wrong?
