1) The only number that suits this statement is |2|, so y= 2 or y= -2, therefore insufficient.

2) tells us nothing about the relation of x and y, therefore insufficient.

Taken the statements together, we don't get further. It's E, I think

( But maybe value means the modulus, I don't know)

Answer is E

(1) y could be 2 or 6. Insufficient
(2) Says nothing about y. Insufficient

(1) + (2) Insufficient.

This is E.
From Stmt 1 we get y to be either 2 or 6. So insuff.

From stmt 2 we get y to be any number. so iinsuff.

Combined we get y to be either 2 or 6. So insuff.

Hence E.
