(i) This allows a variety of values for Y say 2 or 6
(ii) This doesn't help

(1) The least common denominator of x/y and 1/3 is 6
(2) x=1

From 1, we know that
6 = y x (n)
y = 6/n

all we know is that y is a factor of 6 , it could be any value

From 2 , x = 1

The numerator doesnt play a very important role.. as it doesnt affect the LCD value
