please explain ur answers..

the number of ... has risen
ABC are out because of Have
between D and E.
D. awkward and comma is missing before which, and in their perfroming of ... is incorrect usage.
E is neater.

D is too wordy.

'the number' requires 'has'. Eliminate all but D & E.
In D 'them' incorrectly modifies 'sentences' instead of 'criminals'. Eliminate
