The answer seems to be 6.
Since the x-intercept is 4, hence the triangle formed by k,x-axis and y-axis has a base of 4.The triangle formed is a right angled triangle and area is 1/2 h X 4=12. This gives the height of triangle as 6. This height is nothing but the y-intercept.

Your math is correct, but I think you got the y intercept backwards. Should be -6 because the slope is positive.

Yes , since it is a positive slope ,-6 has to be the y-intercept.
