Hi
Please evaluate my profile. I currently plan to apply to INSEAD for the Jan 2016 intake.
Me:
- 24 yr old Indian male
- Did my schooling in Dubai - ~12 Years, Grades : 93% Xth, 88% XIIth
- Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka with a GPA of 7.71/10
- GMAT - 740 (Q49, V44, AWA 5.5)
- President of the Student Council at school, the school had ~6000 students from over 15 countries
- College : Leadership positions with the Drama club, the Institution of Engineers & the Placement Committee
Work:
- Worked for 1.5 years at one of the top pharma consulting firms as an analyst. Worked on big data with some of the largest pharma clients in the US.
- Currently working at a Tech giant in the Sales Organisation
- Promoted in current role within a year of joining with ratings that put me in the top 1% of the organization
- Worked with our largest clients based in Spain for the first year. Post-promotion I currently hold two roles, one as a marketing strategist for large Auto clients who operate in the UK and the other as an analyst for senior management looking at internal metrics and sector level initiatives
-Total work ex by Dec 2015 - ~43 months
Extras:
- Directed a play in college to raise funds that helped build a library for an NGO, consistently involved in theater throughout school, college and work
- National level social entrepreneurship award for internship with an NGO that focused on waste management. Helped build their sales & marketing team to raise funds by selling recycled products.
- Spanish - A2 level, French - A2 level. Working on getting a B1 level in Spanish ( Giving my B1 exam mid 2015).
- Won 3 department level awards at my current workplace for exceptional contribution
Post-MBA:
- Near term: Move to a top consulting firm, to be honest I've been working remotely for my clients in all the roles I've held so far and my primary target would be moving to the client facing side
- Long term: Move into a leadership (Senior management) role at a technology firm, from what I see in the industry they prefer people with some consulting experience in the senior strategy positions.
- Back up plan - Re-join my current organisation at a product marketing role
Why an MBA:
- Network building
- Moving from a remote support team into a leadership position outside of the support team is hard. While this is not impossible, progression is generally very slow at the organization with a preference given to lateral/post-MBA hires
- Build on the subjects/topic not covered at engineering college. Primarily finance, accounting, OB & marketing.
Targeting:
INSEAD - a. Top consulting firms recruit for the APAC region b. My current employer recruits for the APAC region for the product marketing role
Thanks
