Indiana Kelley vs. Notre Dame Mendoza - both with $$$ [#permalink]
23 Dec 2012, 23:46
Hi All: Hoping for your opinion. I'm interested in consulting or brand management, and Kelley has offered me nearly a full ride when factoring in a scholarship and graduate assistantship. Notre Dame has offered me nearly a full ride as well, but fully scholarship-based (no work requirements).
Any thoughts on the schools?
My gut says Kelley, as it seems to be a much stronger program (everyone from there really impresses me) and has more learning opportunities. Bloomington, frankly, is also much nicer than South Bend.
Also, do you think Kelley would increase its offer (ever so modestly) to meet/exceed that of Notre Dame?

Kelley no doubt. Established MBA brand, and the people are crazy nice.

Kelley for me. Makes sense to drop them a note saying you 'love' the program and cost is an important factor (and someone else is offering a full ride). They will definitely not lower the present amount, so no harm in trying.

This can be a dangerous game to play but they've already shown you that they want you, which is why they're offering you so much in the first place. A polite email probably couldn't hurt. Just be careful is what i would say.

IMO, $$ should be the tie-breaker between two schools, not the primary consideration. It sounds like you like Kelley a lot more and you'll have better career opportunities out of there. It's not worth sacrificing long-term success for a little more $$ now. Best of luck!
