INSEAD Sep 2010 Intake [#permalink] New post 08 Aug 2009, 22:09

BOOKMARKED
Hello all,

Anybody applying for INSEAD in Sep 2010? I saw some threads for Jan 2010 intake but none for Sep 2010. Would love to hear from those applying as well as those already interviewed and accepted - about to start in Sep09 or Jan10.

I'm considering R1 for Sep2010- have been to INSEAD presentation (off-campus) and am impressed. My background: Arts undergrad, 6+yr work experience, mostly marketing (big international firms), international exposure and hoping to do something more entrepreneurial post MBA.

A few questions to applicants and those already accepted or already there
Applicants - which rounds and which campus? Backgrounds?
Those already in (or about to go) - what's the teaching style? Any tips for application process and any comments about France/Singapore campuses? How intense is the course?

Hope to get a bit of discussion going for this season of applications soon!
Cheers! :-D

@OMJ,

Thanks a lot for sharing your blog, INSEAD interview experiences and the pdf. All of them are very useful resources.

I have another question- Does INSEAD send all interview calls in one day or as and when the application review is complete?

Thanks

INSEAD does not work on rolling basis. They will start reviewing all applications after the submission deadline for that round. INSEAD has traditionally released a few interview invites earlier (like 2 weeks before the interview notification deadline). However, 99% of the invites are extended in the last 2 days. And, the interview invite is always by e-mail and not by phone.

Pearson Vue will post the scores electronically. It gets done in 2-3 days. Easiest way would be to call Pearson Vue.

txs sm - so its pearson vue I have to work with and not mba.com (which is what I've previously used to send in additional score reports to schools)?

i think the call centre is run by pearson vue. But you can go threw mba.com - it should end up in the same place

I would have loved to apply R1 in retrospect, but my recommendations have already been sent. I do not want to bother my recommenders anymore. As a fellow Bruin, do you have any advice regarding whether you would mention a competing offer (say, LBS) if you had stats similar to mine (slightly below average) and were applying R4? Thanks!

I had my recommendations actually complete. You just have to email Etheryl to move it from one app to another app. I did it this morning actually.

I don't think mentioning competing offers in any app would ever be a good idea. Personal opinion.

But if you application is unique (IE performing arts) I think R4 would still give you a good shot, since R2 of January is after you start class for your fall programs.

Hello sm332, do you have the split M/F for French and overall?

Thanks a lot for your help!

41 French men, 8 female -- wow that is terrible!!

Overall, 345 Men, 159 female as of this writing. close to 30% which isnt great since the numbers seem to be slipping from previous years 35-37%.

I have just started. Work is hectic here as well !!

The option between culture shock essay and the one where you can write to a foreigner moving to your country - i am still not sure which one to choose. this to me is the most challenging one..

Hello,
new here.

Applying for Sep 2010 R1 Singapore.
5 years work exp.
recently been working in oil business.
Wrote on cultural shock... Somewhere I read that it is a better topic than the visiter to your country because it allows you to better introduce yourself.
good luck to all.

Does anyone knows if they process applications before the deadline?

Hi juniordad - welcome. I plan to write on cultural shock myself though I have heard that one should pick an essay which is easier and can illustrate different facet of one's life best :)

Unfortunately, I'm not sure if they process applications before the deadline. I believe that many people are on summer holiday in August (being a 'French' school) so unlikely they will process much sooner before deadline - plus they would have to process Jan 2010 intake first. But that's just my opinion.
Good luck!

I am in for R2 :)

I am trying to make my all apps in R2, but Insead seems to have R2 1 month earlier (Dec vs. Jan). Not sure whether it would give a chance to pick a school if I have more than 1 offer 8-)

Re processing before deadline: I don't think schools generally do that; schools want to know their applicants' universe at least for that particular round before making any decision.

Count me in for R2. I need to retake the GMAT since I didn't quite get the score I need to be competitive. Good luck to all you R1ers!

Hello all,

what campus are you choosing in the application. I am a bit confused whether to start with Singapore or Fountainbleau, though I am pretty sure I would like to experience both. The wharton option increases the dielemma.

What was your choice and what was the reason.

Cheers

I went for Singapore.
Figured that with a 2yr old boy it has better options for my family.
Also would allow the wife to find a job.
weekends in samui sounds more attractive then freezing in fonti.

I am leaning on picking Fountainbleau as I have never lived in Europe.

I had a question about transcripts. Do you know if they have to be in a sealed envelope only ? I can request my university to send it directly to INSEAD, but I would prefer to send it along with any other applcn material. If I ask my university to send the transcripts to me, obviously it wont be in a sealed envelope. Is that ok ?

Also, do you guys know if we get any confirmation that our transcripts have reached ?!!? Have you already submitted them, if you are applying to R1.

I handed them personally while I vusuted the campus.
From what I understand, you should get an email from a coordinator saying that the entire material was received by the ad. com.

Thank you everyone for your replies.

I hope I am not asking too many questions :P

Do you know if we could cross the word limit. if yes, by how much. The application form doesn't mention that.
