INSEAD SEPTEMBER 2011 Intake

I went to the London MBA fair on Sat and asked about the interview invites.. it seems that 90% of all invites go out in 48 hours before the deadline.

But the Adcom member I was speaking to , did not encourage detailing how they review the applications... geographical bins seems most logical at this point.

I also spoke to an alumnus and he pointed out that in his year, most people also got invites very close to the deadlines..
so.. there is hope for us all.... ATB

If it helps to know, this was the case in the D11 (Jan intake) round. Most got emails in the 48 hours prior, and don't worry much about the geographical bins. Don't expect a call or email outside of business hours, though many of the coordinators are hardworking and I did get a note at 7PM CET as my coordinator was leaving the office when I followed up on a previous note.

Why would they send out a few early invites? I'm curious to find out why they are special! :)

Yes. Normally, being called for interview earlier is a good sign. In my case, I was waitlisted probably because one of my interviews didn't go well. My interviewer was interviewing for the first time. I didn't realize that I needed to take control of the situation and set the direction if the interviewer wasn't driving the interview very well.

Anyway, all is well that ends well. I am in for Jan 2011.

Sorry my misunderstanding- I knew you were waitlisted didn't know that you got in- Congrats.

Does that make it 100% for early-invites (for our very limited, self-selected data set)?

I don't believe there is a correlation between the two. I am a R3 Jan 11 applicant who has been waitlisted. I received the interview invitation email almost 2 weeks before the deadline. One of my interviews didn't go very well, I wouldn't be surprised if that was the differentiating factor. I wish you the best for your interviews!

Poolpass,

Do you mind sharing why you felt the interview didn't go well? I've heard two different interview stories. One is the two interviewers do good cop/bad cop and the other is that the point of the interviews are to see your passion and fit for INSEAD (and if the interviewers could enjoy to work or be stuck in an airport with you).
