got an invite to interview.. they seem to like cutting it really close
however no interview date or interviewer has been assigned. is this normal?

Yes, same for me, no interview date or interviewer, the email says they will select an Alumni interviewer and then send us details

what do you guys reckon is the conversion rate from invite to admit for insead? i heard on the grapevine that it is rather high (>75%) but just wanted to check if that is indeed the case

I just got my details! Please contact the two interviewers to arrange each meeting at mutually convenient times, preferably by early December and inform us of your interview dates. Prior to each interview, we ask you to please provide your interviewers with a copy of the profile section from your online PDF application. You can access the profile section by clicking on the following link and following the step-by-step instructions:. Upon receipt of your interview reports, your file will be presented to the MBA Admissions Committee. For more details on our Staged Admissions decision dates, please do not hesitate to consult our website. I am a Sep'13 applicant. However, I may be able to submit my application only at the last moment of the deadline. I am still in my essay editing stage! Have heard that you should apply either in R1 or atleast 2 weeks before R2 deadline. Any suggestions/clarifications on the same?
