I think this is a great example of a common GMAT scenario, especially with people on this board.

There are alot of folks here who are extremely gifted when it comes to the quant. We routinely hear of quant scores around 48+. However, those same folks have somewhat of a tough time with the verbal.

I firmly believe the best way to improve your verbal score is to work on sentence correction. This is the portion of the verbal that is easiest to improve, and is less subtle than the CR portion. This is illustrated by the great story in this thread.
