Hi! I am Shrey Chakravorty. This is my current status.
Graduation(Engineering) - B.Tech. - 70.9% (Hons.) Work-ex - 0 years. Taking GMAT in - Mid-December. Expected Score- 720
What are my prospects of getting selected in a good MSF program? What are the job prospects? Will a mediocre college help? Since I am from India, I have no idea how MSF works, because there is no MSF program in India.
Please help.

Check out my site, it should help you in your search for programs. Moderator edit: link removed. Also, provide some more info on what you want to do for a career, goals, part of the USA you want to work. Maybe you want to work in India or Europe. More info the better.

Thanks for the reply Anthony. I want to work in the US, and I don't have a problem going to any part of US for work. Though my long term goal is setting up my own company, but for I want to go for the highest paying job that I can get through MSF in the US, earn money and experience. I would have liked to go for an MBA, but 0 work-ex restricts me.
Also, please guide me on how to apply for scholarships. I am working hard for my GMAT, but am really confused how to go about the Application Process once the GMAT is done. Moreover, due to financial limitations, I won't be able to apply in more than 5-6 colleges.

Fellowships are usually given to people with high GMAT's and experience. I would really think hard about a US MSF since this country is tough to work in without sponsorship right now. Very few companies are sponsoring people now. Make sure you speak to admissions about it and get a good answer.

Hi guys,
I am looking forward to MSF program in US for fall 2011. I have a Master of Management Studies (MMS) Degree from India with specialization in Finance. I also have 2 years work-ex in finance industry. My GMAT score is 620. I am not interested in quant side of MSF. What are the prospects of getting into a good univs like Villanova, Vanderbilt or Boston (Caroll), etc. N more importantly wat are the job prospects for an international student after MSF degree. I heard dat der r problems gettin an H1B visa for such short course (10mnths or a yr). Looking fwd to ur replies...

I am a student from India.I am looking at applying for the Fall 2011 intake, These are my current grades GMAT:620 Quant:45 verbal:29 I am a Bachelor of Computer Science graduate. Average :70% I am currently pursuing a 1 year Post graduate Diploma in Finance from India. Work ex:0 I have decent amount of extra-curricular activities throughout school and undergrad. I would really be grateful if I could get some feedback as to which universities in the US and UK i could apply to and have fair chance of obtianing admission for the Masters in Finance program. Will it be over ambitious on my part if I were to apply to good universities like Villanova,SUNY Buffalo,Illinois-Urbana Champaign,Vanderbilt etc.? Also, how good/bad is Bentley university[McCallum school of business]? I can apply to only about 5-6 colleges in the US due to financial constraints. Also, in the UK are there any chances at all of me being accepted into the MSc Finance programs at colleges such as Cass, Warwick,LSE,Lancaster? PLease do help me out!!
