I applied for Cornell round 1 as most of you know. I also indicated my interest in the Park Fellowship which covers full tuition, room/board, stipend. I got the request to complete the essay for the Park Fellowship on Friday. I have to complete it within 10 days. Of course the 17th is this Friday. That is before my 10 days has expired. If you were me would you do this and submit in the next day or two or wait a few days until we get a decision before completing it. I mean after all if I were dinged it would be a wasted effort. Thoughts?
I'm totally in favor of procrastination. I try to put off doing homework until the last possible minute, because if I were to get hit by a bus in the interim, or if the world were to end, at least I could have had some fun rather than wasting time doing homework.
Aside from that, I'd think your chances of admission are pretty good if they are asking you to submit that essay - or do they tell everyone to do it?
There are some eligiblity standards to be asked in the first place to be asked to do the essay. The 550 GMAT, 2.2 GPA, no work experience guy would not be asked. Not sure exactly what those requirements are though.
I'd get it in before the deadline and then I'd email the admissions office to let them know you've also completed a Park app.
1. The park people are not the admissions people. They are closely tied, but the people working on each are unique. The admissions people might take note that you've been invited to Park. A longshot yes, but you never know.
2. It just strengthens the "I want to come to Cornell" aspect of your application.
In any case, the Park question is easy and short. Should take you no more than a few hours.
