Interview in the UK from US Business School [#permalink] New post 15 Mar 2014, 10:50
Hello,

I am planning to apply for Business Schools in the States.I notice most business schools will send representatives to interview people who live near the major cities (like London, etc). Since I am living over 100 miles away from London, will I be asked to take the interview in London? Will most business likely to offer me an alternative choice? (i.e. Skype?)

If it is done via skype, does the interview usually be held during the weekend? Do I have to save some work holidays for it?

I really think it would be quite inconvenient and expensive to travel that much. More importantly, I could manage my time better.

Many thanks in advance,

Gordon

Hello,

Many MBA adcoms do offer the option of Skype interviews for people who are not conveniently located near a city where they are interviewing in person. That said, many applicants do travel 100+ miles more for interviews (you said more than 100 -- so 105 wouldn't be a huge distance away, but 400 miles would!). If your schedule permits you to interview in person in London, I suggest doing so, as making the effort will show your commitment and enhance your positive impression. If it’s a huge burden, it is fine to ask for a Skype interview. Each school will have its own criteria for Skype, including time frames. You would have to check school by school to see if they do it on weekends.
