Interviews in other countries [#permalink] New post 16 Apr 2013, 13:54
Hi all,

I'm an international applicant from East Asia and have a question for you all.

<For alumni-only interviews>
Let's say I'm going on a business trip to Spain for a month, and I received an interview invitation from adcom during my trip. Does adcom allow applicants to take interviews with alumni in Spain?

Anyone had similar experiences?

Thanks in advance..

If you are going to be away for such a long period, you should let admissions know and most schools will try to accommodate. The purpose of an interview is to work towards your admissions, not to create some sort of false barrier or criteria. A simple email upon knowing your schedule should suffice.

In my view, it's a positive. You're demonstrating to the school that you have multi-national experience - you're a citizen of the world. That's great.

If the school has a trained alum in Spain, I'm sure they'll work with you to accommodate. If not, interview by Skype or phone. I would not recommend waiting until you return home. One month is a long time to wait to have an interview, and lots of admissions decisions will be made during that time.

Which school are you talking about? you should probably ask the school, since each school has different instructions regarding interviews.
