Hello fellow GMATClub members!
Since I am a new member, I figured a quick introduction would be in order. I am planning to write my GMAT in the next few months with the goal of applying to b-schools in the coming fall.
Unforturnately, this is not the first time that I am writing the GMAT. It will be my 4th time...
Mine is a story of unfortunate circumstances, poor planning and bad luck. I will elaborate on my story AFTER I make this last attempt on the GMAT. Yes, this will be my last attempt and I really hope I succeed in getting a 750+ score. My score right now is 680 and it is not at all competitive within the applicant pool that I fall in, for top 20 schools.
My only saving grace will be to get a 750+ score that may, just may, cloud my number of previous attempts to the adcom.
Now having said that, and having studied VERY HARD for 3 months the last time around, scoring an average of 740 in practice tests but not clearing 700 on the actual test, what would be my best course of action?
What can I do right now and for the next 3 months, to absolutely
maximize my chances for clearing that much-sought-after-750 mark?
Maybe my basics aren't that strong after all. Maybe I have a problem with knowledge retention. Or speedy recall. Could be lack of confidence and last minute jitters. Maybe a combination of all of the above.
All my past attempts have been with self study. Also, I am not keen on typical GMAT courses because they seem to mainly focus on the basics and I am quite familiar with the GMAT( or I better be by now!). I need something, that extra something, that will help me get over to the other side.
Any classroom based course that specifically targets re-takers with the goal of crossing 700? Or a private tutor perhaps? I read the post for re-takers. very nice and very well done. Kudos to those who contributed to that post. But I think I am exhausted at the thought of going through the whole process of self-study again. I may need to be spoon fed.
Thanks for reading... Any and all suggestions are welcome!
