A little about myself: ** I will be graduating with my BS in Business: IT Management July 2013 (GPA 3.0) from a small state school (nothing special). * *I am currently 24 and I have been working full time since I was 19. * *Work Experience: 1 year as a Network Analyst/Tech (maintain and monitor the network) at a satellite communication company (current position) 6 months as a retirement specialist (Transamerica) 6 months as a retirement specialist (The Hartford) 2.5 years at Citibank as a Client Escalation Supervisor * A few IT certifications *Denver, CO
Why I am here: Up until 1.5 years ago, I wanted to be in banking/finance (IB/investments) but I lost my passion while I was working at the Life Insurance Companies. Then I decided to give the IT sector a try because I enjoy technology and read Denver was the 4th/5th city to get an IT job. After being in the IT field for a little over a year, I definitely do not see myself being a network engineer, system engineer, or but a manager/director role would be interesting. With that being said, I am also getting an itch for banking/finance again.
I have come to conclusion that an MBA is in my future, which will help with switching back to finance or hopefully push me up the IT ladder (I have not decided yet). My goal is to get into a top 10 program. I know my GPA is low but I was thinking: if I kill the GMAT, get a masters degree (finance, accounting, statistics) with a near 4.0, and continue with my work experience...I will have a decent shot when I'm 26 and applying for schools in the fall of 2014 (starting 2015).
** With all the information I have provided, do you think I am on a good path? Would you add or change anything? ** Most of threads I read about are regarding individuals wanting to get into IB/PE/Finance, is there any reason no one talks about an MBA helping in the technology sector? ** How would you rate my work experience thus far?
