Investment management, MBA and CFA... [#permalink] New post 07 Nov 2009, 10:09
Hi folks - this is not another CFA v MBA thread. I'm a career switcher (engineer in oil industry) going for equity research post-mba. Yes, I noticed there was a bit of a recession and I know this won't be easy. But I'm going for it anyway!

My question is, will it benefit my admission chances if I mention in my b-school apps that I am (or have) registered for CFA 1? I'm not sure how much I want to do this but I will go for it if it will make a difference to my admission chances.

Any comments?

You should mention it with respect to your MBA goals because it helps solidify the perception that you've given your plans careful thought and are dedicated, interested, passionate, etc.

But, no, it isn't going to matter that you registered.

I agree with Rhyme...I don't think it will add any kudos to your application, but it can work to your benefit by explaining how the CFA falls in your master plan and why you plan on taking it.
