We grant pre-release access to the application for gmatclubers who want to try it and post feedback in the thread. (You need to have iPhone / iPod Touch to become a beta-tester (tester).)
1) Download and install iBeta app (free) from AppStore: iBeta 2) Launch iBeta, tap Email To Developer and you will see your Unique ID. Send this email to your email and use copy/past to send Unique ID and your contact email to bb by PM. 3) After re-building the application with a new provision profile, bb will send you GMATClub.zip file and ?????.mobileprovision file. 4) unzip GMATClub.zip to get GMATClub.app. 5) use drag-and-drop to drag GMATClub.app and ?????.mobileprovision into iTunes. 6) synchronize your iPhone / iPod Touch with iTunes 7) test the application and post your feedback here. Good luck!
Who tests the application: walker (iPhone 3G, System Version: 2.2.1) bb (iPod Touch) Irajeevsingh (iPod Touch, System Version: 2.2.1) Young Gun nyctown
Today, beta GMATClubLE app has been lunched on bb's iPod Touch for beta-testing: we've passed advance ad hoc distribution Apple's quest.
We did pass but only due to Walker's help! I completely failed at following Apple's instructions. They are either not written well or that's a proof that gmat score is NOT an indicator of anything

When do you think we will be able to purchase one?
Lite edition (37 math questions) (free): I think it will be available in 3-4 weeks. Full edition (paid): We need to convert questions to iPhone format and I suppose you will see it in a month or later.
Walker - this looks really well done. I'm still in the stone age as far as cell phones go, so I won't see the finished product .
Is there a way to link to a more detailed explanation on the site? I find that I'm frequently not smart enough to understand without some more explanation.

Actually, It is a great idea and it's not so difficult to add such options in to the application: To do so I need to get data with links from BB and hope that guys will add a iPhone-friendly interface to the forum.
We absolutely will. I am not sure when exactly - probably very soon.

Let me try to understand this. 1. Which pages would the app link to? Forum discussion of questions? If yes - these are started by members themselves. We can link but not all of the questions have a discussion and it will be a bit painful to find all of them but doable I guess
2. iPhone friendly forum - it does not look bad as it is on the iphone right now. I actually often browse it using my iPod Touch - no complaints. However, there are ways to try improve it and create a blackberry/iphone/mobile version (basically remove all images). That's a decision we need to make - it will take (1) development time and (2) commitment since it will have impact on other features and functionality, and eventually add to complexity, which I have learned many time is not a good thing.
I can look up on statistics on the site and right now, less than 1% are using mobile devices to access it. Are a lot of people missing this functionality? If yes, this is your opportunity to speak up and put this on the roadmap.

Agree. It is rather handwork than auto-search fast solution.

A few thoughts:
1) what I think would be useful: a very simple version of the forum: no images, no options, no edit/post functionality, signatures, attachments, user's profiles and so on. There would be three things: name of user, date, and text. I'll manually compile one of threads in iPhone format and will post a link here as an example.... done. here is a link (use iPhone / iPod Touch): forum example
2) technical issue. If we are talking about a very simple version, I'm sure it won't take a lot of time.
3) when. If the paid version of GMATClub app will be profitable, it is worth to spend time and resources for iPhone friendly forum. Otherwise, I agree that it does not have sense at this point.

Great! Also, could an RSS feed and a feed reader do something like this?

Hm... Maybe, I don't know. At least the simplicity of RSS is what would be appropriate.
Let me show off my iPod App knowledge now I use an RSS Runner and it has an option to read the post in the RSS reader (automatically downloads all posts on launch). Then if I want to, I can see it in a browser and can also email to friend.
now, if only GMAT Club had RSS enabled on its forums..... (This is my big next thing to roll out)

I would love to buy this application, how much do you think it will run? Also, I would have to buy an Itouch - I live so far out in the sticks that we only have Verizon. But I have been wanting to buy an Itouch very badly, so this would give me a reason
Seriously, if this is as good as the GMATClub tests, Im game.......they are amazing......
benpack03, I think BB could give you information in detail as I'm responsible in the project for development and support of application. BB defines the number of questions in full version and price policy.
BB, could you, please, share available information about number of questions in full version and price policy? At least, preliminary information?

Many of these decisions depend on the beta test feedback. I have a few guesses that I am happy to share, but users and members will ultimately decide.
We'll have a free version with a few tests and a more beefed up one with 500 questions or so (that's about 13.5 tests) and probably post it for $10, $20 or $30. I would want to make it free for members with 200+ posts, but I don't know if that's technically possible at this time.
These would be the same questions as in the GMATClub Tests, so I don't think we should release all of the tests on the iPod since people may want to take a computer simulated test and there is a chance they will get repeat questions. However, this and pricing decisions will be based on the beta testers feedback.
If you have any thoughts or ideas - I will be happy to apply them to this project.
BB
