Def not A.

consider x = 4, and y = 2 , 5

Def not B

consider x = 10, and y = 20, 30

putting together doesn't appear to help.

if X = 2, and Y = 2 it works.
If x = 1, and Y = 3, doesn't work.

It is E I believe.

Let x =2 and y = 6 so that 1 holds true. But, 2x is not a multiple of y.

Let y=6 and x = 2 so that 2 holds true. But, 2x is not a multiple of y.

Because we have taken the same numbers in both (1) & (2), even C is not the answer. Thus, it has to be E.

I thought it is C.

Statement 1 : Y is divisible by 2.
Statement 1 : Y is divisible by x.

Both: Y is divisible by 2x.

Yup, my mistake.

1) 2X+2 = kY

2) Y=jX

Both: 2X+2 = kjX
Insufficient.
