If you're a borderline candidate, does applying early to a top 10 school give you a better shot at getting in? I am trying to decide if it's worth pushing myself to apply by the October deadlines.

Cmns18,

Yes, it's does give you a better shot, but probably not a big one. Applying via Early Decision deadlines is even better since it signals focused interest in the school. But keep in mind that if you rush to meet these early deadlines with a less-than-ready application you've lost the advantage you gained in applying early. Make sure it's your best app.
