Is the correct answer determined through elimination? I couldn't find a direct reference to the claim in the passage - could someone direct me at the line where the answer is suggested? Thanks!

Most existing maps of Native Americans lands are reconstructions. I think the word reconstruction shows that there was no first hand observation.

Also, it talks about how the maps were authenticated by non-Native Americans. Just another example of a 2nd or third-hand account (not a firsthand).
