Research varies on the value of an M.B.A. A 2006 study by the Lubin School of Business at Pace University, looking at 482 companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange, found that only 162 of them had chief executives with graduate degrees in business. The companies with chief executives who went to more prestigious schools did no better than those who went to less prestigious schools, according to the study. Why this was so is unclear.

Why this was so is unclear.Interesting!! I know of one case in which it makes 'less' sense to do an MBA, which is: If you are an immigrant without a green card and are earning in USD. Taking a 2 year break from work for MBA would mean giving up the salary of 2 years. Also you would have to pay the non-resident tuition fees + living expenses which will take you around 5 years to repay. NOT WORTH IT !!

I think this article is statistically biased.
You are looking at two groups of people:
A. People have graduate degree in business, lets say 200,000.
B. People who does not have graduate degree in business, lets say 300million.
Then, it is clear people who obtained the graduate degree in business significantly increases their chance to become a CEO of the top companies.
