Here is a list of prime numbers:

2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, etc...

Basically, a prime number is a number that has only 2 distinct factors. 1 is not prime because although you can use 1 *1 to get the product of 1, these 2 factors are not distinct. With 2, you have 2*1. With 3, you have 3*1. Prime numbers are numbers that can be divided only by 1 and itself. Another point to remember here is that 2 is the ONLY even prime. All the other prime numbers are odd.

So in statement 1, a prime number could mean 2 or any odd numbers.

In statement 2, any integers between 3 and 26 could include any of the even integers or odd integers.

Together, since the numbers between 3 and 26 are prime numbers, you know for sure that 2 is not between these values, so the number must be odd.

(1)INSUFFI , cannot say since 2 is even prime number and others are odd
(2)r can be any number in between ,even or odd INSUFFI

(1) and (2) since >3 ,all the prime numbers are odd hence r cannot be
