Good question. Schools report the average number of years based upon the work experience their candidates gather all the way up to matriculation, so you will get "credit" for that extra year. Of course you will only be able to write about your experience up until the application, but certainly if notable achievements happen between application and matriculation, you can always reach out and update the school. This will clearly only matter if you update them before the admissions decision is made.
