"most univs that i have come across are asking for GMAT scores which are less than 2 years old. HTH."
i was under the impression there was a 5 year acceptance for scores. this would change my plans drastically if true.

Hi,
I've seen some programs outside of North America that ask for GMAT scores that are relatively recent (e.g. 2 years). However, to my recollection, the major American programs permit students to submit older scores.

Hi,
As always, it is a good idea to verify the GMAT policy of each school that interests you.
UC Berkeley:
"When are my GMAT and TOEFL scores no longer valid?
For fall 2004 admission, we accept official scores from GMAT tests taken as early as October 1998. TOEFL tests taken before June 2002 will not be accepted even if your score was previously reported to Berkeley. There are no exceptions to these dates."

As far as I know, scores are good for 5 years. I can't think of any schools that want more recent GMAT scores. MOst want TOEFL scores that are less than two years old.
Good luck!

For those who share Hjort's encyclopedic interest in admissions . . .
IIM Indore
"A foreign/ NRI applicant, seeking admission to Post-Graduate Programme in Management, can take GMAT in the country of his/ her residence and apply for admission in the prescribed application form, which can be downloaded from our website during October-November period every year. The GMAT scores should not be older than two calendar years at the time of applying. "
AIM
"AIM conducts its own test, the AIM Admission Test (AIMAT). Because of this, GMAT is not a requirement. However, if you have taken and passed the GMAT within the last three (3) years, it will also be considered in lieu of the AIMAT. We require a minimum GMAT Score of 600."
