I think the official answer for this one is wrong. What do you think?

Teratomas are unusual forms of cancer because they are composed of tissues such as tooth and bone not normally found in the organ in which the tumor appears.
(A) because they are composed of tissues such as tooth and bone
(B) because they are composed of tissues like tooth and bone that are
(C) because they are composed of tissues, like tooth and bone, tissues
(D) in that their composition, tissues such as tooth and bone, is
(E) in that they are composed of tissues such tooth and bone, tissues

Note: I posted the problem exactly the way it appeared on the paper test.

I think there is logic in choosing ansnwer E .. Let me try to explain

Meaning of In that == For the reason that , so it fits as far as using "in that" is concerned.

Now why choice E over other choices using because... pls see my remarks against each

Teratomas are unusual forms of cancer because they are composed of tissues such as tooth and bone not normally found in the organ in which the tumor appears.
(A) because they are composed of tissues such as tooth and bone == require cojunction "that" with are after bone to complete the sentence or the repetition of tissues like resumptive modifier as used in correct choice E
(B) because they are composed of tissues like tooth and bone that are == wrong usage of like
(C) because they are composed of tissues, like tooth and bone, tissues == wrong usage of like
(D) in that their composition, tissues such as tooth and bone, is == wrong usage of composition word
(E) in that they are composed of tissues such tooth and bone, tissues == correct

So, i think the choice E as answer is not only because of usage of In that in place of Because.

Pls feel free to correct me if i am wrong somewher...

Option (E) per your example is incorrect - it should be "such as tooth and bone"

(E) in that they are composed of tissues such as tooth and bone, tissues

akshey2021, I agree with you. hirendhanak, I think your explanation is good. I think the problem is that the GMAT writers made a mistake and forgot to include the word "as" so that choice E would read "such as tooth and bone". This is at least the 2nd typo I've found while completing 3 sentence correction sections from 3 different paper tests.

Thanks for your input guys!

Typo seems to be the only explanation here...
