(1) 1/x < 1/y
(2) x/y < 0
St1) 1/x < 1/y
x and y can have sign or different signs
Case a: If x and y have same signs
1/x < 1/y
[highlight]can we cross multiply ?[/highlight]
Case b: if x and y have different signs
x has to be negative and y has to be positive in this case
thus , y> x
[highlight]example : -(1/3) < -(1/2)
on cross multiplying -2 > -3
Thus 1 can be sufficient...
x/y < 0
Thus x and y have different signs....
I get A but OA is C.... Please help !!!
